Tourism Partnership Program

Canton · Stark County Convention & Visitors' Bureau Tourism Partnership Project

Because the Mission of the Canton · Stark County CVB hinges on attracting tourists to the county and serving their needs, the Bureau proudly presents a partnership project so we can participate with tourism entities within Stark County who are attempting to accomplish the same task. For 2007, this program consists of a total of $25,000 that will be made available as two (2) $5000 awards, four (4) $2500 awards, and five (5) $1000 awards for local projects which will strive to promote Stark County tourism. All projects will be funded based solely on merit, and final awards may be for partial funding of a project. Consideration will be given to new events and to new, innovative forms of marketing. Application deadline will be August 18th, 2007. Organizations may submit one application only.

These dollars will be made available for promotion and marketing purposes only (construction, staffing, and operations funding do not apply), and eligible projects will be those which aim to bring outside visitors to Stark County (particularly those projects which encourage overnight stays). Tourism brochures, PR materials, and 2 or 3-day events promotion are examples of marketing projects that may apply.

Applicants must completely fill out the application, and it is required that they be returned to John Kiste at the Canton · Stark CVB (preferably in person or by certified mail). View and print the application. A 5-person committee will be named from the Bureau Board of Directors to evaluate all applications, and the decisions of this committee will be final. The awards will be announced and the funds made available in September of this year, so projects being studied for 2008 budgets would be ideal candidates.

All venues receiving awards will be required to send the Bureau a follow-up letter with proof of project completion as soon as the project is completed (invoice copies and actual materials may be attached as such proof).
